Our Story

So glad you "pawed" your way through other dog boutique sites to visit us. But how did Toy Dog Accessories at the Beadoir arrive here? I already had an existing retail store, The Beadoir Inc., since 1994. Besides beads, jewelry and scarves, I sold handbags. Handbags were no longer a hot commodity. My restaurant neighbor, Backstage Pizza, planted the seed that I should offer unusual dog products. After 6 months of allowing the idea to germinate, the prospect of starting a pet boutique became very appealing. Over the next 7 months I utilized the internet to investigate handcrafted dog products and goods made in the USA. I decided to utilize the space handbags had occupied, and In October 2013 with a Grand Opening that included a Doggy Fashion Show and vendors selling dog related products, Toy Dog Accessories at the Beadoir commenced business.

Having three little rascals myself helped inspire my decision. Peppa, my Havanese, was mated with Foo Bear, Backstage Pizza's black Shihtzu, and 63 days later, on May 29, 2012 four pups appeared. I sold two beautiful pups but kept two for myself, Tookie and Tiara. The three serve as the welcome committee, security guards and the best models for the best dog clothing east of the Mississippi.

As an artist myself, I support other artists through my purchases of their handcrafted pet related products for Toy Dog Accessories. When I purchase from a US company, I select only those companies whose products are made in the US. I currently have artists represented from some 30 states, several cities in the UK, Canada, Europe and Australia. I search for items unique, well-made, and definitely not to be found in large pet box stores. Don't bother searching for pet food. I'll leave that for the box stores, but treats made locally here in Connecticut or elsewhere in the States are standard stocked items.

I hope you will check back often. Since many of the products are handcrafted and one of a kind objects, I am on a constant search for the unusual and unique. I consider my European line of dog sweaters, dog raincoats and coats the stars of the boutique's collection. Made to measure just to your exact specifications or clothing made to my specifications already in house, the sweaters and coats have been coveted by my two footed clients for themselves aside from their 4 legged companions. Expertly crafted and the ultimate in design, these garments are sure to last for years and years.
